David E. Bodie graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Police Administration. He was awarded a Master of Arts degree in Forensic Science from Antioch University in 1982. In addition, he has been a faculty member of Howard Community College and his teaching assignments include a variety of criminal justice courses.
Prior to his retirement from the Montgomery County, Maryland, Department of Police in 1997, he served in a variety of positions, including: executive assistant to the chief of police, director of the Office of Staff Inspections, accreditation manager, deputy district commander, commander of the Silver Spring Community Policing Unit, shift commander, academy instructor, and patrol officer.
Upon his retirement, he founded Bodie Consulting Services, which provides safety management and training services to the community. He also provides consulting and training assistance in the areas of supervisory leadership, executive development, change management, operational and strategic planning, team building, organizational communications, and community policing. Mr. Bodie was a featured speaker at the International Seminar for Law Enforcement Training in Brazil in 1999.
He has presented training programs at the U.S. Department of Justice's International Law Enforcement Academy for Eastern Europe in Budapest Hungary, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, and the International Training Units of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Mr.Bodie is the director for the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers and serves as the vice president of the International Association of Ethics Trainers in Maryland. He is also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the American Society for Training and Development, the Institute of Management Consultants, and the Center for Aggression Management.
Reducing the level of crime will benefit the officers and the communities he or she serves by making community life much more livable. Community policing is the solution to enhancing the communities' and officers' quality of life.
