Bloodborne Pathogens ( 2-hour course ) Instructed by Eileen Rhodes
Law enforcement officers and personnel face a silent menace on a daily basis: bloodborne pathogens. Transmitted through blood and other bodily fluids, bloodborne pathogens, such as HIV and hepatitis, pose a serious threat to officers in the field and in detention centers across the U.S. Through education, officers gain the necessary knowledge to recognize potentially dangerous people and situations, and what steps to follow to prevent exposure to life-threatening diseases. Learn dangers of HIV and hepatitis and steps for prevention. Develop an Exposure Control Plan. Learn how to handle, remove and dispose of contaminated waste and what to do following exposure.
