Approximately 14 % of the police officers in the USA who are killed in the line of duty are shot with their own weapon. Keeping our weapon secured and not allowing it to be taken away has to be a high priority for every officer when they go on duty. The same concerns are present when an officer goes off duty. The simple fact that you have a handgun makes officers a natural target for people who want a weapon, and do not care how they get it or how many people get hurt in the process.
