Jeff Bailey is a career law enforcement officer
with over twenty-three years experience. He is currently
employed with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department
in Birmingham, Alabama, and has been assigned to the
School Resource Division since its inception. Bailey
has elementary and middle school certifications in
D.A.R.E. and basic and advanced ratings with the National
Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO).
Mr. Bailey is a member of the American Society of Law Enforcement
Training and has been a state certified academy instructor
since 1983, holding certifications in several disciplines.
Additionally, Mr. Bailey has designed training programs
for several departments.
Extensive research into the area of school violence prompted the writing of his book, " What is going on in our schools? An examination of crime in our schools" (published November 2000, University Press). He has trained law enforcement officers from across the country and has appeared on talk-radio shows from coast to coast, speaking on school violence. Finally, Mr. Bailey is assigned to the Civil Disturbance Detail that falls under the Special Operations Section of the department.
