Chic Daniel retired as a detective from the
Los Angeles Police Department in 1998 after 25 years
of service. He spent 12 of those years assigned to
the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit. Mr. Daniel
was one of the original members of the Crisis Negotiation
Team (CNT), which developed and implemented the strategies
and policies necessary to deal with hostage situations,
barricaded suspects, and the growing number of suicide-related
calls. During his tenure, he was involved with the
creation of tactics used in the service of high-risk
search warrants.
Additionally, Mr. Daniel spent nine years assigned to the Los Angeles International Airport Narcotics Task Force as a narcotic canine handler and was involved with the training of narcotic canines. He has instructed various police departments and military units across the country.
